Professional driver service in Quimper, historical capital of Cornouaille. Exceptional cultural heritage with Saint-Corentin cathedral, traditional faience workshops and the July Cornouaille Festival.
Quimper, prefecture of Finistère and historical capital of Cornouaille, has 63,000 inhabitants and is the cultural and administrative centre of southern Finistère. Located at the confluence of the Odet and Steir rivers which gave the city its name (Kemper means confluence in Breton), Quimper has preserved remarkable architectural and cultural heritage in a medieval city centre relatively spared from World War II destruction. Saint-Corentin cathedral, a 13th century Gothic gem with twin spires reaching 75 metres, dominates the ancient urban fabric. The Locmaria district, on the south bank of the Odet, has hosted since the 17th century the workshops of famous Quimper faience, an active manufacture producing traditional and contemporary pieces exported worldwide. The Henriot and HB-Henriot houses perpetuate this artisanal know-how, one of the crowning achievements of Breton folk art. The cobbled streets of old Quimper, around Kéréon street and place au Beurre, preserve many timber-framed houses from the 15th and 16th centuries now hosting craft shops and gastronomic restaurants. Each last week of July, Quimper hosts the Cornouaille Festival, one of the world's leading Breton music and culture festivals. Created in 1923, the eight-day event brings together over 200,000 spectators around concerts, shows, parades and demonstrations of traditional dances. This event generates considerable tourist influx and specific traffic for artists, organisers and international visitors. FJ13 offers a driver service adapted to these seasonal flows as well as daily movements of local businesses and business travellers.
The Cornouaille Festival takes place the last week of July in Quimper, with 200,000 spectators over eight days. Concerts are held at several city centre sites and the great Celtic circles parade crosses the city on Sunday. The city centre is partially pedestrianised during the event with significant traffic constraints. FJ13 offers coordinated transfers from BES, the SNCF station and peripheral hotels with drop-off in dedicated pickup zones, as well as shuttles for artists and professional guests.
Pont-Aven is 35 kilometres southeast of Quimper, about 30 minutes drive via the N165 then D24. This charming painters' town immortalised by Paul Gauguin and the Pont-Aven School in the 1880s has preserved its charm with mills, bridges over the Aven, art galleries and its famous museum. The Pont-Aven Museum, renovated in 2016, presents major works by Gauguin, Sérusier and Bernard. We offer half-day packages Quimper-Pont-Aven with waiting during museum and gallery visits.
Quimper SNCF station, located on Avenue de la Gare south of the city centre, is served by direct TGV trains from Paris-Montparnasse (about 4h) and regional trains from Brest, Lorient, Nantes and Rennes. FJ13 offers station pickups with nameboard greeting for business travellers, as well as coordinated transfers to BES (55 minutes), Brest (55 minutes), Concarneau (25 minutes), Pont-Aven (30 minutes) or seaside resorts of Bénodet and Fouesnant.
Beyond urban rides, FJ13 offers a complete range of B2B and event services.
