Strasbourg's Notre-Dame Cathedral is the most visited monument in Alsace. FJ13 takes you as close as possible to the historic centre and lets you explore the cathedral quarter in complete peace of mind. Our drivers know the authorised drop-off points and the best approaches to avoid the pedestrian zone.

Chauffeur routes from Strasbourg Cathedral

From Strasbourg Cathedral, the most requested chauffeur routes reach Strasbourg station (2 km, 5 min), Petite France (1 km, 5 min), Entzheim Airport (15 km, 20 min), European Quarter (4 km, 10 min) and Port of Strasbourg (8 km, 15 min).

FJ13 serves Strasbourg Cathedral (Bas-Rhin) and its 6 key destinations by sedan or van with driver, bookable around the clock.

Chauffeur transfers to the cathedral and the UNESCO-listed Grande Ile

Strasbourg Cathedral, the tallest surviving medieval building in the world at 142 metres, is the most visited monument in Alsace with more than 4 million visitors a year. It stands at the heart of the Grande Ile, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988 and fully pedestrianised during shop opening hours.

FJ13 knows the authorised set-down points nearby: Place du Chateau (south side, between the Palais Rohan and the cathedral), Rue Merciere (the main approach), Rue du Vieux-Marche-aux-Poissons, and Place Broglie (set-down with a 200-metre walk). Our chauffeurs adjust their route to the municipal rules, which change during festivals and trade fairs.

Service for visitors and organised groups

River cruise passengers, coach travellers and individual visitors make up most of our requests around the cathedral. From the central hotels (Regent, Sofitel, Hilton, Maison Rouge, Bouclier d'Or) the journey takes 5 minutes. From outlying hotels and campsites, allow 15 to 20 minutes.

For organised groups we coordinate several vehicles arriving together. The welcome is offered in French, English or German on request, subject to availability. Chauffeurs can briefly point out the landmarks you pass, without standing in for a qualified tour guide.

Seasonal traffic and events around the cathedral

Strasbourg hosts several events each year that temporarily change the traffic around the cathedral: the Christmas markets (late November to late December), the Strasbourg music festival (June), the European Trade Fair (September) and the end-of-year illuminations. FJ13 follows the municipal orders and adjusts the set-down points accordingly.

During the Christmas markets, traffic in the inner centre is heavily restricted. We then favour approaches via Place Kleber (a 3-minute walk to the cathedral) or Place du Chateau, which is accessible at certain hours. A phone call 30 minutes before pick-up is worth making to confirm the best set-down point.

Booking and how the visit works

Book online 24 hours a day through the FJ13 module. Give the pick-up address, the time you want to reach the cathedral and your estimated return time, or ask for a return on call or text if your schedule is open.

How it works: the chauffeur arrives 5 minutes before the agreed time, sets you down at the closest point authorised that day and texts you the return pick-up point. For long visits of more than 4 hours we offer either waiting in an authorised zone or a return on call.

Frequently asked questions

Can you park near the cathedral?

The historic centre is largely pedestrianised (the Grande Île is a UNESCO World Heritage site). Your driver drops you as close as possible (Place du Château, Rue Mercière, Rue du Vieux-Marché-aux-Poissons) and returns at the agreed time.

Do you offer guided tours?

We provide transport, not official guiding. However, our drivers know Strasbourg well and can recommend certified local guides.

How long should I allow for visiting the cathedral?

Allow 1 hour for the interior (nave, astronomical clock at 12:30 pm) and a further 45 minutes to climb to the platform (332 steps, panoramic view). The platform ticket is sold separately.

Is the cathedral accessible to people with reduced mobility?

The main entrance to the nave is wheelchair accessible (ramp). The platform, however, can only be reached by stairs. Your driver can drop you as close as possible to the accessible entrance.

When is the best time to see the astronomical clock?

The procession of the apostles starts every day at exactly 12:30 pm. A specific ticket is required to access the area. We recommend arriving at the cathedral around 11:45 am for the ticket office.

Do you operate during the Christmas markets?

Yes. Strasbourg's Christmas markets (late November to late December) draw large crowds and traffic is heavily regulated. We know the set-down points closest to Place Broglie, Place de la Cathédrale and the Christkindelsmärik on Place Gutenberg.

Can you wait for us during our visit?

Yes, waiting in an authorised zone can be arranged (charged at an hourly rate). Otherwise, we return at the agreed time at no extra charge if the interval is under 4 hours.

How long does it take from Strasbourg Cathedral to Strasbourg station?

With an FJ13 chauffeur, allow around 5 min (2 km) between Strasbourg Cathedral and Strasbourg station, traffic aside. Fixed-price trip, bookable 24/7.

How long does it take from Strasbourg Cathedral to Petite France?

With an FJ13 chauffeur, allow around 5 min (1 km) between Strasbourg Cathedral and Petite France, traffic aside. Fixed-price trip, bookable 24/7.
