Frankfurt FRA is the closest in road time (2h15) and offers the densest network: over 300 direct destinations and the largest Lufthansa long-haul base.
The alternatives are Paris CDG (4h30, around 480 km), Zurich (2h15 but Swiss motorway vignette and Bale-Mulhouse border traffic) and Munich (5h00, around 480 km). For North American and Asian destinations, FRA delivers the best ratio of road time to direct connections from the Bas-Rhin region.
Terminals T1 and T2: alliances and drop-off procedure
FRA has two terminals connected by the free automated SkyLine people mover, two minutes between stations.
Terminal 1 is the historic Lufthansa hub and the home of the entire Star Alliance: United, ANA, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, TAP Portugal. Four concourses: A and B Schengen, C and Z non-Schengen. Drop-off on level 4 via P30, direct access from the Autobahn via Hugo-Eckener-Ring.
Terminal 2 hosts SkyTeam (Air France, KLM, Delta, Korean Air, China Eastern), OneWorld (British Airways, Cathay Pacific, JAL, Iberia, American Airlines) and non-alliance carriers (Emirates, Etihad, Turkish Airlines, ITA Airways since 2023). Concourses D and E. Drop-off on level 2 via P9 (kiss and ride).
